  • The only Burnet to have six red spots on metallic-black forewings, occasionally some spots merge together looking like one and rarely the spots can be yellow

  • Hidden except when moth is flying

Distribution

Widespread in southern Britain, less common in Scotland and Ireland being mainly found around the coast

Habitat

Active during the day in flowery grassland, including downland, coastal habitats, roadside verges and woodland rides
